Week 1 (Jan 9 - 15, 2012)
During the first week of the course, participants will:
- understand the goals of the course
- get acquainted with the course Spruz web space
- consider the course expectations
- define the terms Personal Learning Network (PLN), Social Networking, and RSS, and articulate the questions you have about using social networking for language teaching and learning
- begin to develop a Personal Learning Network
- create a personal page in Spruz
- introduce yourself to the group via video (intervue.me)
- create a Diigo account and discuss readings in Diigo
Week 2 (Jan 16 - 22, 2012)
During this week, participants will:
- join Twitter and begin following other participants and educators
- participate in a Twitter group activity
- join a social-networking group (Facebook) and interact with other participants at this site (polls, documents, etc.)
- compare and discuss Facebook and Spruz social-networking environments
- find and share related readings in Diigo in small groups
Week 3 (Jan 23 - Jan 29, 2012)
During this week, participants will:
- participate in a Voicethread activity within the Ning
- create a Voicethread activity and learn to embed or link it
- create an audio or video activity using Viewpoint and embed / link it
- participate in other participants’ activities
- find and share related resources in Diigo in small groups.
Week 4 (Jan 30- Feb 05, 2012)
During this week participants will:
- find and explore a social-networking application of their choice
- create an activity in your application for the class to participate in
- participate in course colleagues’ activities
- find and share related resources in Diigo in small groups
Week 5 (Feb 06 -12, 2012)
During this week, participants will:
- share results and impressions of activity participation from Week 4
- discuss all session activities and possible applications to your students
- interview a session colleague about favorite session activity via Wetoku and embed / link
- evaluate the EVO-SN course
