Fantastic change of venue and fantastic energy for Gwangju Artists Collective's May 14th meeting.
A new art magazine for Gwangju was celebrated. Art Elemento, started by Joe Wabe of Tequilaz in Chondae, was passed around.
Also mentioned where two other upcoming events erupting from the amazing expat volcano in Gwangju. Gwangju Performing Art Group is practicing every Saturday and Sunday for their performance of Picasso at the Lapin Agile in June. They've found a venue at Chodae. Can't wait.
Super Color Super is digging in and offering more and more events here in Gwangju. Upcoming on May 21 is a music street festival by Club Nevermind.
GAC was especially active in setting out some upcoming events.
1. May 26 Thursday- Meet at 5pm in front of GIC to do a gallery tour of three art openings. Visit Daedong Gallery, Mudeun Gallery and traipse over to the Bitgeol Art & Culture Center to check out some openings and grab some wine and comestibles. We will go for dinner maybe after.
2. May 29 Sunday - GAC and GIC will be buying table to set up at the downtown 'Beautiful Market of Sharing' 12-5pm. GAC had a table last year and artists were able to sell their art to the public and offered art workshops to the public. Please let GIC if you want to participate. gwangjuic@gmail.com
3. June - Every Tuesday 7-9pm - Open Studio at GIC. A free chance to come and draw. GAC members will facilitate drawing and offer 'another set of eyes'. It's free but chat will be conducted about hiring and paying for a model for future Tuesdays.

4. Summer workshops on Portfolio Preparation, Drawing and Color. At GIC, Saturdays 1-3pm.
June 4 - Leroy will conduct an initial Portfolio Preparation workshop, with an extended workshop to follow up in the fall.
